assignment 2 Winfred

OK, here's what I tried to do. My son is at presschool for about one month. Since he's from Holland (just like me) he doesn't understand much of what is being said and done. The past few weeks he's feeling quite lonely there. I wanted to capture something of this loneliness. First pic shows him at preschool.

Then I decided to leave the kids out. To illustrate less and let the surroundings speak for itself. I wanted to picture the playgrounds of kids not as places of joy but as places that can rather desolate.

Then I went to another playground where they go to every week. I really don't like the place and I don't think my son does. I tried to capture the atmosphere. I experimented with making the pictures darker, adding details like signs, old papers or dustbins. I also took a few steps back and took some pics in Bernd & Hilla Becher style. The best effect I got when taking my sons perspective (holding the camera about 3 feet above the ground). I still have to choose which pic to print.
