Sorry and here is the final one that I showed all of you!

Narrative Portait Set Week 2: Clueless

Gani Week 2

So, I didn't take these with our assignment in mind, at first. It was only after seeing my final image that I thought this might be appropriate for a picture that tells a story.

Denise's Week 2

So besides the fact that I keep epically failing to post them more than an hour before class.... here they are...

Nicole's Narrative Urban Portrait

So I was trying to capture the idea of "making a statement" and "going against the normal social grain" by capturing these two in a photo. HOWEVER, the shot I am actually going to use has NOTHING to do with these attempts, and is much more powerful. It was a one-time shot and there was no way I could do many attempts because it happened so quickly. Enjoy these anyway!

These are all images attempting to document UC Berkeley's protests against budget cuts in education.

Rachel's attempts for week 2

So I was out of town and missed the last class and didn't get the assignment until Sunday. There are my excuses for being unhappy with my photos here.

First I got the idea that there might be interesting things happening at the airport, so I went there. It was strange being there with no intention to travel and no one to meet. It wasn't very busy, and I didn't find much in the way of story. I focused main on the interactions of one family. The lighting was weird. I found the contrasts between the family's intimacy and the sterility of the space interesting.

Later, I found Berkeley High football practice happening in gorgeous light. I like these better, though I wish I could have captured in a photo the coach's amazing grunt of a scream that carried through the air. I liked the kid looking on, and how all of them were in some way learning masculinity.

Lauren's Week 2 Post

I took a lot of different photos this week. I wasn't thoroughly satisfied with my results and choosing a final photo was kind of frustrating. Two things that I'm having trouble with are:
1) Light - it almost never looks right!
2) Self-consciousness/ shyness over taking photos of other people.
Let me know if you have suggestions.

I did 3 separate shoots of my friend's band, Radio Rebelde. I tried some in b&w.

I wanted to do something with prostitutes, but I've discovered that I'm scared to death of doing so. This is one of the best I got: the girl, who looks to be about fifteen years old, is soliciting the two men in front of her (green & orange shirts). A young man (black jacket) passes and gives her a look of disgust. They all seem very nervous by the fact that I'm taking photos, and they end up not making a deal.

Aiden and Atticus: I hate the flash, but they look good together. I'll have to try something during the daytime:

Katie Week 2

For this week I chose to photography the rally/walk out at Berkeley. I was having a lot of trouble capturing the essence of the picket lines on campus, so I kind of chose to focus on this one little girl who was there. These are some of the images I came up with:

Ipek's second week

Fifth one:
Fourth one:
Third one:
Second one:
First one:
The idea I had in mind was to show how individual feels "small" in the big urban spaces sometimes. The first four pictures were planned, but then i had the feeling that it does not really express what i want. Then the fifth picture was just a surprise; I have seen it and thought this illustrates my idea in a much better way.
(sixth is the last one, it is not here but printed)
