Assignment 1 - Hieu Ngo

These are some of my favorite photos from Sally Mann's book At Twelve. The top and the bottom photos speak for themselves without having to explain the context. The middle photo though is much more meaningful once you learn from the book that the man is her mother's boyfriend, who have been harassing the young girl while her mother was at work. Sally noticed that the girl would not get close to her mother's boyfriend for the photo and only learned of the history after the photo was taken.

These are some photos I took while I was in Japan in 2006.
